Copyright

Churches put their own charts, lyrics, and files into Praise Pad, and the Terms of Service require them to hold the licenses to do so. Praise Pad doesn't supply lyrics or charts, and libraries are never shared between churches. If you believe something in Praise Pad infringes a copyright you own or represent, here is how to tell us.

Sending a notice

Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512), a notice needs:

  1. the work you say is infringed (or a list, if there are several);
  2. what you say infringes it, with enough detail for us to find it (for example, the church's name and the song's title);
  3. your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
  4. a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  5. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for the owner;
  6. your physical or electronic signature.

Send it to our designated agent:

Praise Pad, copyright agent: team@praisepad.app (registration with the US Copyright Office is in progress; this page will name the agent once it's done).

What happens next

  • We remove or disable access to the content named in a valid notice, and tell the church that uploaded it, with a copy of the notice.
  • The church can send a counter-notice (below). If it does, we forward it to you, and restore the content 10 to 14 business days later unless you tell us you've filed a court action.
  • Churches whose accounts repeatedly infringe are closed.

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, send our agent a counter-notice with:

  1. what was removed and where it was;
  2. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification;
  3. your name, address, and telephone number, and consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, outside the US, for the district where our agent is), and that you'll accept service from the person who sent the notice;
  4. your physical or electronic signature.

Licenses

For most worship songs, a church's CCLI Church Copyright License (with the Rehearsal and Streaming licenses where they apply) covers making and using chord charts and lyrics for its own services. Praise Pad's song usage report helps a church report to CCLI; the reporting itself is the church's.
